A Special Family Session | Lewisville, NC

My husband and I have compassion for children with autism. This compassion has propelled me into a wonderful, life-giving relationship with a client of mine. My first encounter with this family was to do a session for Amanda’s stationery company, Paper Hope Stationery. This company is inspired by her handsome, adopted son with autism. Artwork for special needs children is a really big deal. This family celebrates that by featuring it on unique stationery.

A Unique Family

Along with being creative, they are just something special. I don’t know what it is about them, but I find myself in (good) tears every time I leave their home. They just exude so much love and Christ-like faith. It was amazing watching the entire family embrace this young boy. Even more so, these two parents dealt so tenderly with him. If you have a child with Autism, you can understand how hard this session was for him and his loving parents.

A Special Moment

He very much was doing his own thing and needed to do things a certain way. And you know what? It worked out beautifully. My job is to serve the family I am capturing. That even means working with a child who has special needs. Towards the end, he had enough. But, I wasn’t giving up. Mom wanted a picture of all four siblings together. So, I crossed a log bridge and went into the woods, hid behind a tree and captured the ONE shot. I’m thankful I know what I’m doing because if I didn’t, the moment would’ve been missed.

This brief thirty minute session was filled with love, grace, and beauty. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to work with them! Also, these parents are just adorable!
